In which I consider Mortality

The vet was discussing tiger snakes on the phone while she fiddled with dials on my invasive tubes. I have  a number of plastic tubes inserted in various places, I won’t describe them as I would like to maintain some dignity.

Tiger snakes are venomous, she said, and will attack if they are disturbed or threatened.  (As if I don’t know). But what gave me something to think about is the mortality rate of tiger snake victims. 45%!

I begin to wonder about the Meaning of Life. Why was I spared? Could this portend a future action on my part which is necessary to balance the world? Did the Norns who weave the web of fate pluck a brighter strand for me? Is there a higher purpose? Is there, after all, a God?

Feeling quite light-headed. Vague. Fuzzy. Still suspicious of the water.
