Tale of a Sailor Cat
I want to share with you my admiration for a fine, heroic cat. A sailor cat. His name was Trim and he circumnavigated Australia 3 times with his person, Matthew Flinders.
I wrote a long story on Trim the Sailor Cat in my new found role as lensmaster at squidoo.
But let me tell you a little of him here. He was born at sea and, even as a kitten, he showed the remarkable traits which made him a legend to to seafarers. He was an astronomer, a mathematician (somewhat like myself) and a natural historian.
In the words of Matthew Flinders
Many and curious were the observations he made in various branches of science, particularly the natural history of small mammals, birds, and flying fish, for which he had much taste
Also something like myself. I wonder if Trim ever came across a snake in his travels to the South Seas.
Sadly, he came to a tragic end in the stewpot, but his memory lives on.
