On the Road Again
Do you yearn for the open road? Ever feel an itch to set out into the unknown world and just move on and on to the horizon? I do. Let me tell you something in confidence, the next time the-woman-who-feeds-me attempts to spoon out food from a can in my bowl (quelle horreure!) I'm hitting that highway! I'll be heading for the Hillbilly Highway, Highway 61, Highway 20 Ride, I don't care which one, I'll hit the road, Jack. It will be my way or the highway. And it can be done! Kitty the Cat, backpacker extraordinaire, is spending the next 3 years ...
Discrimination against Gay Dog
I was appalled to hear of a dog being refused entry to a restaurant because he was gay. And this deplorable act of discrimination occurred in South Australia where it's against the law! You can't discriminate against a dog because he's gay! Here's the whole shocking story of the gay dog being refused service in a restaurant What kind of world are we living in? When a dog wishes to go out for a quiet dinner with his person, it's for reasons of enjoyment, relaxation and a cosy bit of bonding. How awful to be slapped in the face with such callous treatment from ...
Hairball Awareness Day
This cat would have a lot of hairballs! Unless of course, her staff person spends a lot of time brushing. That's why I bring National Hairball Awareness Day to your attention - a day to recognise and take steps to eliminate hairballs in cats. I want to make this day International Hairball Awareness Day. After all, we live all over the place. I'd keep the same date of course, the last Friday in April The woman who feeds me is accustomed to hairballs, she usually finds them in the morning, when she has no shoes on. For some reason she's not too ...
Cheers for Charles and Microchips
Charles, how did you do it? How did you travel 1300 miles? Thank heavens for microchips! Charles went missing while his staff person, Robin Alex, was away volunteering for the Habitat for Humanity From his home in New Mexico, Charles made his way 1,300 miles north to Chicago, where the Chicago Animal Care and Control picked him up as a stray. Assuming the worst all this time, you can imagine Robin's relief when she received the call saying they had found her tabby cat. But, even with the wild excitement, she was now in fear again. She couldn't afford the ticket ...
In which I become a Giant!
Yes it's true! I slogged away, working my paws to the bone, keeping my eye on the prize and refusing to give up. I even sacrificed some precious nap time! It was worth it. Well worth it. I made my 50 high quality Squidoo lenses and submitted my application to be accepted as a Giant Squid. And I got there! You have to keep working for what you want. It pays off. I am now the first cat to become a Giant Squid. The first anipal to attain that lofty peak. I am THE cat. I am a Giant Squid Cat!
Oh Lord, let me not be an old fart
Sometimes I feel my age. It's all the brain really, in the little Poirotien grey cells. It's not about senior moments and little accidents (cats get them too) it's about the relevance of things to my daily life. My response to tragedy is no longer an impassioned howl to the heavens on the bloody blatant injustice of it all, but rather a semi-guilty sadness that such things could be. I only have to momentarily raise my head from my sheepskin cuddle blanket to see what's what. Yep, the world has gone crazy. Wars and disasters, fire, flood and drought, tigers will ...

In the west of Wales, one cat claims the title of oldest living domestic cat in the world. Amber was a fully grown stray when she took up residence with Diane Sleeman in 1978 and it’s thought that the frisky feline is now approaching 30. This would make her almost five years older than the current record holder. Researchers from the Guinness... [Read more of this review]
The world’s oldest cat reached his 31st birthday before he kicked the bucket. Spike, a ginger and white tom, was first bought for two and sixpence in London’s Brick Lane market in 1970. The Guinness Book of Records confirmed Spike’s claim to fame after owner Mo Elkington took him to an astonished vet three years ago. Read More →
