I’ve been a Bird Watcher all my life. I could call myself an ornithologist but I have so many scientific credits to my name that it seems somehow superfluous to list all of them. So, I say merely ‘Bird Watcher’. I like to stare at them.
It’s all I can do really. Watch. I can’t get up close and personal as they don’t fly into my shady outdoor room, but wing their way past it in the morning and at the end of the day.

The woman who feeds me has strung up little caches of bird seed on trees and things nearby, but the birds don’t seem to feel comfortable eating while I’m watching them. Oh well, you can’t win them all.
One of the reasons I don’t wander freely among the birds and the other wildlife is for their own protection, people are funny about cats and birds. They’re always going on and on about poor little harmless birdies being massacred by ferocious feline thugs.
So it’s painful to find out that people are wantonly slaughtering birds themselves. They murder them with plastic and, I have to say this, bring about Bloodshed by Balloon.
Balloons are one of the top three most harmful pollutants impacting wildlife.
I wish people would think about that when they gaily hurl their little balloons up in the air.
Real people don’t kill birds. They blow bubbles, not balloons.
