Ginger Toms are pretty special cats. Nothing to equal the (ahem ahem) pure, unblemished black moggy of course, but pretty special all the same.
Whiskers was travelling in a caravan with his staff around Winton, in the far west of Queensland, when he chanced to sneak out during an overnight stop.
Not much around Winton for a cat to do, but Whiskers thought he’d take a look around anyway and promptly disappeared. His staff searched for two days but finally gave up hope. Oh ye of little faith.
Three months later, his staff received a phone call from Longreach. Whiskers had been found by travellers driving across the desert and he was taken to Longreach Veterinary Services which is roughly 200 kilometres from Winton.
How did Whiskers manage out there in the relentless desert? He’s not saying, but I will safely bet that he’s used up a couple of his lives.
Now he’s safely back home with his suitably chastened staff, Luke Hall.
Whiskers’ tale is an important reminder that all animals must be microchipped. Are you?
